As we are coming to the end of the year and things are really busy, it’s a good time to think about self-care. I don’t know if you are like me, I love to help and serve others, but sometimes get exhausted from putting others first. It’s important that we take care of ourselves in order to be able to continue to give to others. Whether you are giving to your children, family, friends, or others, remember to take of yourself as well.
How can you do good self-care?
Physically, Make sure you are getting enough sleep, exercise, and healthy nutrition. Environment, what is your space like? Create a space that is not cluttered, a space that brings peace and relaxation. Using a diffuser to diffuse essential oils is another great way to help with your mood and bring relaxation. Essential oils that are good to diffuse for relaxation are: lavender, roman chamomile, balance, and elevation. (These are from Doterra.)
There are many ways to do good self-care. Take time to rest, not just sleep, but conscious rest and relaxation. Spend time with friends and family doing things that fill you up. Get outside and take in all the beauty of creation. Stop and take some deep breaths. See a good therapist or counselor if you have struggles in your life that need tended to. Spend time praying. Take a hot bath, listen to calming music, get a massage, whatever helps you to relax your body.
We live such fast paced lives, that it is important to take at least 10-15 minutes daily to stop and do something that will help you focus on slowing down. Slowing down is important in taking care of our bodies in a healthy way.
Today, I challenge you to think of ways that you can fit at least 10-15 minutes of slow down into your daily routine.
Enjoy this holiday season and slow down and see what’s really important.
Merry Christmas!
