Hello friends.
With all the fuss around the corona virus, I thought it would be good to make a post about it. There is so much information out there floating around. How do you know what to believe? I used to be a person who lived with so much fear in my life, but seven years ago I realized that living in fear only creates more problems.
If you watch any news, look at social media, or get email, then you have seen the panic and fear. People are wiping out toilet paper isles out of fear. Hand sanitizer and rubbing alcohol are on back order because people are buying it all up out of fear.
Today I want you to know that you don’t need to fear. The corona virus is a virus just like the flu is a virus. They don’t know all they need to know about this virus so of course people begin to panic. Here is one thing we do know. We know that when we have a healthy immune system, we are able to fight illness better or not get an illness at all. It’s important to have a healthy immune system all the time and especially during cold and flu season. This year brought a new virus and I will do the same thing I continue to do to keep my body healthy. There are no guarantees in life. There are no guarantees of not getting sick. However, we can do the best we can to try to prevent illness. Here are a few things you can do to build up your immune system and prevent illness.
- WASH YOUR HANDS.
- Eat healthy. (Eat a wide variety of healthy foods.)
- Limit sugar. (sugar is a destroyer of the immune system)
- Get lots of greens in your diet.
- Take vitamins especially Vitamin C.
- Vitamin D is also good for boosting the immune system.
- Get plenty of sleep. (Our bodies go through a restoring process when we sleep)
- Consider probiotics. (They are good for gut health which is where most of our immune system is housed)
- Consider herbs like echinacea.
- Eat garlic.
- Manage stress.
Also remember, if you are sick, don’t share your germs with others. Stay home, get some rest, and get well.
So today, take care of your body by eating well, getting sleep, and managing stress. Today is the gift that we are given. Don’t live in fear, live fully alive, and enjoy what is in front of you. Don’t let the worry of all of the problems of the world steal the joy of today. There will always be problems and sickness in this world, but we can take steps to keep our bodies healthy and to choose joy no matter what comes. Today make changes to be well.
In health,
Erika
